I've been at bit behind on posting to our blog here, I guess that what happens when you're double shifting! We finally finished up the framing job for the recording studio in Grand Haven. It took five weeks in all of framing and it was the most bizzare and complex framing job I've ever been a part of. It does feel good to have it behind us since none of us are big fans of working at night! We also finished up a 40'x60' pole barn in Nunica and we are waiting for 2 special order doors to finish up an office build out for the North Muskegon State Farm office.

We also have a night crew working in Grand Haven on a complex commercial framing job for a recording studio. Its coming along but there is still a long way to go.

We started a new roofing project in Grand Haven last week. The weather wasn't very cooperative at the end of last week and Monday of this week. Since then it has been quite nice and we are making some progress. This one is a very old historical home down town and we we are doing a unique install to provide added insulation. We are building the roof deck up with 1 1/2" insulated foam board with new OSB on top of that which will provide an additional R-15 or so. We did run into a little snag right from the start. There are 5 layers of roofing on it! In 15 years this is only the second time I have ever came across that many. It will add about an extra week on to the job but we have to get it down to the original decking. We will also be installing new windows and an elevated deck on this house.

We finished up everything over at Maranatha in Norton Shores last week. We installed some new siding on the third story of one of their apartment buildings. After the siding was up, we installed 12 awnings over the upper balconies. Today we started a remodel in North Muskegon. We are gutting a bathroom and completely redoing that, installing new laminate flooring in a bedroom, kitchen, and dining area, painting, and installing new trim.

After the new siding is installed we will be installing 12' awnings back up. I hope the weatherman misses the mark with the ice storm forecasted for tonight.

We spent the end of last week and today up in Whitehall on White Lake. We knocked out a couple of wall to open up the floor plan. One was between the kitchen and the living room, and the other was between the living room and the front entry. We got it all opened up and trimmed out. It made a big difference and now the rooms flow together. Tomorrow we will be heading back to Maranatha in Norton Shores to replace some damaged siding and install some awnings.

We poured the concrete floor and approach at the 24'x24' garage we've been working on at Maranatha in Norton Shores. It was a perfect day for it! We'll be back tomorrow to finish up the siding on the front. We also have to install the garage door and install a fire wall where the garage is attached to the house and some steps. That will wrap this one up.

We started a small porch remodel in Whitehall today. We are installing three new windows and drywall on the interior of a 8'x12' porch to make it kind of a mini three seasons room. We had to rebuild one of the walls because it was rotted out. We also found out today that the permit is ready for a 24'x24' post framed garage at Maranatha in Norton Shores. We will be starting that one at the end of the week.

We finished up the water damage repair in Norton Shores today. Since we had to replace some drywall the homeowners had us open up a wall between the their dining room and great room. It really opened it up! After that we tied up some lose ends at another project. Tomorrow we are heading back to a house in N. Muskegon to install three new garage doors. We installed new siding and roofing on this house about 1 1/2 years ago. That should buy us enough time to obtain the permit for a garage at Maranatha.

How about this weather for January? We have been very fortunate considering the type of project we are working on. Things have been going great at the Duck Lake Rd. job. We worked all weekend due to the favorable weather and have all of the new trusses framed up and just finished all of the new roof sheeting today. The shingles were delivered this afternoon and we will start installing those tomorrow. Hopefully we can beat the snow that supposed to be here Thursday!

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a great holiday season! We had a change in plans from what was originally expected for the start of 2012. We were supposed to begin a 32'x40' pole barn in Fennville, but that will be delayed for about two weeks. Instead we are starting a project on Duck Lake Rd. in North Muskegon. We will be removing the entire rafter roof system and replacing them with new energy heel trusses. We will be adding a significant amount of insulation and proper ventilation. Once all that is done, new shingles and installing new aluminum eaves. Hopefully the weather cooperates!
