The Twin Lake garage is almost there. We should putting the finishing touches on tomorrow. Today we installed the overhead door and got a start on the opener. We also got the electrical installed today. Provided we can get the remaining concrete poured tomorrow that will do it. Next we're heading to Holton to build a 24' x 30' garage with a barn style roof and 20' concrete approach! Hopefully the weather stays cooperative!

Monday, December 27, 2010

Well, we tried to go out to Twin Lake to install the garage door and it turns out we had some of the wrong parts. We finished preping for the remaining concrete. From there we headed back to Muskegon to finish up the two decks that we started on Christmas Eve off Marquette St. I headed down to the south end of Grand Haven to tied up a few lose ends on a bathroom remodle that I subcontracted out. Needless to say, a lot of time was spent driving going from Twin Lake to Grand Haven! Hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to be a little more productive.

We will be installing the garage door and opener, electrical, and the last of the concrete after Christmas and this job will be finished. We have another garage to build I'm Hilton after that. A couple of the guys wanted some extra hours for the holiday so they are in Muskegon building a couple of small decks. Merry Christmas!

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

The siding is going up fast on the Twin Lake garage! It should be completed by the end of the day tomorrow. From there we'll have to install the garage door and opener and get the electrical in place. I've been trying to tie up a few small projects for other customers before Christmas and that has been going well too. A much needed Christmas break is in the near future but there is also more work to come. After the Twin Lake garage is completed its off to Holton to build another garage! Stay tuned for some new photos.

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

We installed the roof on the garage in Twin Lake today! We also got a start on the siding and the aluminum eaves. We will be pouring a 4' approach to the garage as well as a walk way around to the service door. We started preping for that which was quite a challenge with the ground as frozen as it is! We should have it close to being ready to pour be the end of tomorrow.

Monday, December 13, 2010

The Bard Rd. Project is officially complete! I had to make a run down to Holland this morning to get 5 peices of soffit to make it a wrap. We had a crew preping the garage for the foundation and concrete floor. There was also another crew in different part of Twin Lake installing all new windows in a house. Its a bit more of a project than expected because we are putting new construction windows in the existing openings.

Thursday, December 9, 2010

The inspections were approved today for the Bard Rd. house! We will be insulating the attic tomorrow and that will do it for that one. We also broke ground today on the 24' x 24' garage in Twin Lake. First we had to remove a few stumps and then started digging footings for the foundation.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

The Bard Rd/ job will be complete tomorrow! Stay tuned for photos of the finished product!

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

The Bard Rd. project will be completed tomorrow. We have to blow in the insulation in the attic and add some framing to one of the new roof trusses to meet engineering requirements. Then we're heading over to Twin Lake to build a 24' x 24' garage.

Monday, December 6, 2010

The Bard Rd. project is almost done! The siding is finished, but there is some exterior trim that still needs to be installed along with some vinyl beaded soffit under the new covered porches. We also have to blow in new fiberglass insulation in the attic. There are a few drywall repairs that need to be done to the interior and then its a wrap. We will have a few guys in Twin Lake tomorrow to install some new windows. Once we have these two done its off to build a 24' x 24' garage in Twin Lake.

Thursday, December 2, 2010

We're moving right along on the siding at the Bard Rd. job. I had a class for most of the day today to become a certified siding installer by the Vinyl Siding Institute. The guys had a productive day and we should have the siding about done by the end of tomorrow. Then all we'll have left to do is install some bead board soffit under the covered porches, trim out the beams for a finished look, and blow in new insulation in the attic.

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Workin' in a winter wonderland out there today! We finished installing all of the soffit and fascia on the eaves today at the Bard Rd. project despite all the snow. We'll get goin on installing most of the siding tomorrow. From there its just some of the finish trim work to cover the new support beams. Then, blow in new insulation in the attic and this one will be a wrap!

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

We got the side covered porch finished today as well as the roof on it. Some of the guys that were missing yesterday were there today. We also got the soffit and fascia on one side of the house finished today. The end of this project is in sight now and its coming together nicely. We have two houses that we will be replacing all of the windows in. From there its off to build two more garages.

Monday, November 29, 2010

Well we were a few guys short today but we still made pretty good progress today! We got the posts and beams set  for the covered porch area on the side of the house. We also got the rest of the framing done to begin siding tomorrow. We will start by installing the soffit and fascia on the eaves and then siding after that. We should have some nice photos of the finished product soon.

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

The roof is on at the Bard Rd. house. It feels real good to have the roof on and no possibilities for leaks! Now its time to get ready for all the siding, cosmetics and finish work. We are also going to be building another small gable end and cover over a side patio door next week. From there its new attic insulation and siding. Thats all for this week, its time for a much needed holiday break!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

We installed half of the roof shingles on the Bard Rd. project today! Should have it all roofed by the days end tomorrow. Turns out we'll have to do some additional framing. The homeowners decided to add an additional covered area over another slider door and also add a faux eave to give the side of the house the look of having another gable. We also had two guys in North Muskegon today replacing a rotted roof on a carport.

Monday, November 22, 2010

We had some guys work this weekend to get the Bard Rd. job dried in! It's a good thing with all the rain we got today. The roofing was delivered today and we should be laying shinlges by mid day tomorrow. The homeowner wanted to add "eyebrows" at the eave ends and an addition eave line to give the look of an additional gable end. It all starting to come together!

Friday, November 19, 2010

We got all the new roof trusses set on the Bard Rd. house today! The wind didn't help, but they're up none the less! We have a crew working tomorrow to get the rest of the sheeting down and the roofing underlayment to dry it in.

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Well we got all the demo finished today at the Bard Rd. project! A house sure looks strange with no roof on it at all. After all the old roof system was removed we had to reinforce the top of the walls so that the new roof trusses will sit above the old ceiling joists. Tomorrow we will be setting the trusses!

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Going strong on the Bard Rd. project! we almost have all of the old roof structure off now. The unexpected thunder shower with hail put a little of a damper on our morning but the afternoon went good. We also got half of the new footings dug that will support the new roof structure. If the weather cooperates, we should have the new trusses set by the end of the day Friday. Tomorrow we will be building up the walls for additional support.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

We started the Bard Rd. job today. We tore off all of the shingles and the siding off the peaks. Tomorrow we will start tearing off the roof structure. We also got some concrete cut out for the new footings for the new structure.

Monday, November 15, 2010

We finished the Riverwood siding job toaday! With the exception of a few pieces of vinyl "shake" siding that we were short. It should be in  this Wednesday to completely finish the job. It really looks sharp. We used some premium siding with two different accent designs. Tomorrow we will pack up and head over to W. Bard Rd. to remove an entire roof system. We will be installing new oversized trusses on the house which will extend over a back deck to creat a coverd porch area. I hope the wheather is cooperative. I'll have the photos of the siding job posted once we finish the last little bit later this week!

Friday, November 12, 2010

The Riverwood Siding job is almost complete! We'll be putting the finishing touches on it on Monday! I'll have some photos posted then! Still waiting on the permit for our next project but we have plenty to do. While a few guys are finishing up the siding on Monday, me and another guy will be heading to Muskegon to install 11 replacement windows and a couple of doors.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

We're almost done with the Riverwood Rd. siding job! We should have it 99% complete at the end of the day tomorrow. It's really looking good and the homeowners are very excited to start seeing the finished product. I spent the afternoon getting all the paperwoork ready for our next project. We are going to be removing the entire roof system off of a house in Dalton Township down to the top of the walls. Then installing new trusses and a new roof! I just hope the weather cooperates!

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

The siding job on Riverwood Dr. is coming along good! We got the last of the windows installed today. They were a bit of a challenge but they're installed never the less. Had to do some different framing because they were circular top windows. This house is really staring to look sharp. We did find out that we are going to be a few peices of some specialty siding short to complete the front until next week. The rest of the job should be complete by the end of the week or the beginning of next week!

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

The Sheridan Rd. garage project is complete! Check out the new photos! We have two more garages to build after the Riverwood siding job and we also are removing a whole roof system off of a house in Dalton. We will be installing new trusses and a new roof and eaves. The garage doors for the garage on Sheridan Rd. finally arrived this past weekend so me and one of the guys installed those today. We also put an opener on one of the doors. We'll be heading back in the morning to put the finishing touches on it and we'll have some photos posted tomorrow!

Thursday, November 4, 2010

The weather didn't cooperate for us today. We were only able to get a few hours worth of work done! Everytime we got set up, it started raining on us. We'll just have to hope the tomorrow is better. The day wasn't a total loss though. We got a little bit done and I got caught up on some paperwork and took care of some errands.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Had a great days work today at the siding job on Riverwood Dr. We just about have all the aluminum on the eaves and all the trim finished. Tomorrow we should be able to get a good amount of the actual siding on the house. Its a pretty big house so we'll definately be there into next week. We also had a couple more windows show up today. We're going to remove two trapazoid windows and replace them with circle tops! It'll take some framing but should turn out nice!

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

The guys were all over  at the Riverwood Dr. siding project today. We're making some good progress on the aluminum eaves and installing the trim and accesories. I was flying solo today! Installed some tile on a back landing in Norton Shores and then headed over to Best Buy to replace a damaged gutter system behind the building.

Monday, November 1, 2010

It's really starting to get cold out in the mornings! Time to get out the Carharts, but that all part of winter. We are still waiting for the garage doors to come in  so that we can fiinish up the garage on Sheridan Rd. In the meantime, we're starting to make some progress on the siding job on Riverwood Dr. The whole house is wrapped in Tyvek and all the prepwork is done. We started puting on some of the aluminum eaves toaday. We also took out 4 old windows and replaced them with new Anderson windows. It should start coming together quickly now!

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Installed the aluminum eaves over at the garage on Sheridan Rd. It sure is an interesting color combination! The garage doors didn't come in today like they were supposed to so we will be heading back to the siding job on Riverwood Dr. in Dalton to continue with the prep for that.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

We finished up the porch in Sullivan Township today. The materials for the eaves was delivered today for  the garage on Sheridan Rd. We will be heading there in the morning to install that, then back to the siding job to intall the house wrap.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

It was a little too nasty and windy today to install house wrap to continue with the siding job. We instead went over to Sullivan Township to finished an unfinished covered porch. It was the same house we did a bathroom remodel at about a month ago. From the sounds of it we will be building another garage there next spring. Heading back in the morning to wrap things up. The materials that we've been waiting for for the Sheridan garage should also be in tomorrow afternoon!

Monday, October 25, 2010

We are still waiting foe the special order materials to arrive so that we can finish up the garage on Sheridan Rd. In the meantime we started another siding job today in Dalton off River Rd. Its a pretty big job! The colors are going to be completely different from the existing with some custom accents. The front gable end will have some vinyl cedar shake and the side gables will have some half rounds. The main part of the house is going to be a deep green color using some premium siding by Mastic TM. We wil have some before and after photos up soon!

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Finished up the steel roof on the horse barn in Norton Shores today. Have to head back in the morning for some clean up though. We will also be installing the siding on the garage in Fruitport that we've been working on. Can't wait until the rest of the materials show up so we can finish it up!

We started the day by installing the siding on the back side of the garage this morning so that the electrical can be installed on Thurday. K&L Electric will be there tomorrow to relocate the electric meter on the garage and run the electrical in the garage. We got half of the steel roof done on the horse barn in Norton Shores. Heading back in the morning to wrap up the other half.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Bought a new compressor this morning. That made it a lot easier to get the roof on the garage. Started some of the siding as well but its looking like we will be heading to a different job tomorrow. The special order aluminum for the eaves and the garage doors won't be here until next week. in the meantime we're going to install a new steel roof on an old horse barn!

Thursday, October 7, 2010

We didn't start the steel roof on the horse barn today. DTE was very cooperative about re routing the gas line that was in our way of the garge. We started digging footings and preparing for concrete. Hopefully the weather will be as cooperative next week for the concrete pour.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Interesting Wednesday!

Wow! What a day. We ran into a couple of snaggs on the first day of our garage project. We have to have a gas line rerouted because it just so happens to be right where the garage is going. It's going to delay things a bit, but, here's to hoping DTE Energy will keep thing going. We may be heading over to Norton Shores to install a steel roof on a horse barn at a clydesdale farm. Tomorrows meeting with a DTE engineer will tell all!

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Tied up a few lose ends at some previous jobs today and repaired a leak in a foundation wall in Norton Shores. Secured the permit today for the garage build in Fruitport. We'll be breaking ground tomorrow!

Interesting day! We installed a new garage door for a customer in the morning and then worked on the floor system reiforcement at the house in Lakeside. This evening I had to attend to an emergecy water leak in North Muskegon. A tub faucet cracked and leaked all over the homeowners basement. The leak was for the cleanup!

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

We will be wrapping up the bathroom remodels in Roosevelt Park. Then we're going to a house in Lakeside to reinforce the flooring structure in an old house with sagging floors. Should be interesting. We also have some larger projects coming up! Stay tuned!
